Lady Gaga to perform with Metallica at the Grammys

Metallica has a reputation for listening to the fans all the time. It’s why the fantasy that they read this board daily has percolated.

They didn’t ask what we thought of this before the fact, so there was no chance to listen or not listen to fans in any case.

And it doesn’t make someone a lesser fan, or someone who needs to be identified as “fans” if they don’t like Lady Gaga. She has always tried to be a crossover artist, but the two genres don’t necessarily mix for everyone. Doesn’t mean those fans should derisively be called “fans.”

I think this is great. I enjoy her music. If someone else doesn’t, they’re no less a Metallica supporter.

I’m ok with this. Not a big fan of Gaga, but she’s a legit artist who writes her own songs and she really has a love for heavy metal. Makes a lot more sense than the combination with Lang Lang in my opinion.

I do hope they play a new song and not something like Sandman. I think Gaga would be able to pull off the chorus of Halo On Fire or the pre-chorus of Moth Into Flame. Now That We’re Dead is about two people, so that could be an option as well.

It’s interesting you say this. I’ve always thought the vocal delivery on “Turn out the light, Halo on Fire” was very Gaga influenced.

And this is why I have been a huge fan of her and her music, since the moment she came out with Just Dance and Poker Face. After that, she grabbed the opportunity and released real quality pop music, while also collaborating with Tony Bennett and many other people for a fresh air in the world of popular (and not pop) music.

Plus, she is a metalhead, she was singing Metallica and Iron Maiden in lowlife bars at Brooklyn, before anyone in here had jumped on a hater bandwagon due to the fact that she is an artist in the popular music genre, and not some obscure death metal band that can’t even play shit, yet they deserve “respect” because they are extreme.

It’s funny how some people have posted in this topic 3 and 4 times to mention how much they hate her and what a bad choice this is for Metallica, after their first post was ignored. :joy:

If you ever create something like this in your life in the world of music, then you might have somewhat of a right to bash her. Then again, if you had a relationship with music such that you could create something like that, you wouldn’t want to bash her anyway.

I think Lady Gaga is pure s…t, so I’m not interested in this. I wonder what will come next.
Miley Cyrus? Beyoncé? This is kinda depressing.

I’m down with this.

Tour dates to follow.

Really, what better way to prep for a full scale tour by both (separately),

There is so much difference between Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. Of course , they are all mainstream artists but Gaga is more talented than Miley will ever be.

You have to (not that YOU have to, but just, think about this) think of Gaga as not anywhere near the category of a Miley or Beyonce. Gaga is a musician / songwriter, far from a pop tart… and has metal roots

as in grew up on metal, is a true fan, doesn’t wear Maiden shirts to be ironic…

Listen guys, this is just a commercial move. Nothing more. There’s a multitude of GREAT artists out there to perform with, but they just don’t have the mass media exposure of Gaga, which is, let me enlight you, more famous for continuously exposing her ass than because of her music. I don’t like her, sorry.

It’s the Grammys, of course its a commercial move. The Recording Academy puts these mashups together, and if you want to not look down on it, it promotes that music is music is music…man

Which there is nothing wrong with, as Metallica is a business.

Whatever the reasoning, this will be great exposure for the genre.

Nothing wrong, just sad.

I could see her singing the Halo on Fire hook!

I think they are performing a classic track from The Black Album because of its importance after 25 years and 25 years after their Grammy Win in 1992 for Best Metal Performance.
So I am guessing it will be Enter Sandman with some Lady Gaga twist…But I prefer newer track from HTSD though…

I was thinking something like belting Nothing Else Matters among other choices, and just banging her head during Moth…
